Fashion Designer Prabal Gurung Opens Up About Alia Bhatt’s Met Gala Debut; Says, ‘Invited Her Before, But She’s Always Been Wise Enough To Say Let’s Wait’

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is truly one of the most-sought after actresses in the industry. Time and again, she has proved her mettle with amazing performances in movies like Highway, Udta Punjab, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Dear Zindagi. She ruled the headlines this week as she made her much-awaited Met Gala debut alongside New York based fashion designer Prabal Gurung. Now, in a long Instagram post he has opened up about how he had always invited her to the fashion event but she wanted to wait till the right time.
Sharing a picture with the actress on the red carpet, Prabal started his post by shedding light on the details of the dress. He wrote, “More than 100,000 pearls were hand embroidered in India on satin-faced organza from Europe and all made in Atelier Prabal Gurung, New York. A well-travelled dress for the global superstar. Alia Bhatt wears Atelier Prabal Gurung at the Met Gala 2023.” He went on to recall how he had met the actress during Karan Johar’s 40th birthday party. ALSO READ: FACT CHECK! The designer explained he had heard rave reviews about Alia both not only from the filmmaker but also his brother, who was assisting Karan during Student Of The Year shoot. He revealed how he was immediately taken by her during their first meet and how her being a good friend, a powerhouse performer makes her extremely special. He went on to add that they had spoken about her Met moment for a long time. He had always invited her, however, “she’s always been wise enough to say let’s wait.” ALSO READ: WHAT! Gurung further reveals, “This time however, she felt it was the right moment, so she said yes and off we went to our wildest imaginations along with Anaita to create a homage to Karl that celebrated her heritage (100,000 pearls hand embroidered in Mumbai), my love for Karl (he is my master, and yes he did give me my CVFF award) and all made in New York.”
On the work front, Alia Bhatt will be seen in Karan Johar’s comeback movie Rani Aur Rocky Ki Prem Kahani alongside Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar’s directorial Jee Le Zara alongside Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, her Hollywood debut with Heart Of Stone. She also has Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra franchise in her pipeline.
